Motley Crue（摩特利·克鲁，克鲁小丑）最初由Tommy和Nikki两人于1981年2月组建。他们当时急需一名吉他手，便在外贴了许多招募广告。后来，Mick去应招，马上便被录用。最后他们又从Rock Candy乐队招来了主唱Vince，自此正式成立了Motley Crue。
1982年8月推出首张专辑《Too Fast For Love》，一炮打响，销售量也很不错。之后，1983年9月推出第二张专辑《ShoutAt The Devil》，1985年6月推出《Theatre Of Pain》，1987年5月推出《Girls.Girls.Girls》，1989年9月又推出《Dr.Feelgood》（感觉良好博士），这张专辑也是Motley Crue最好也是最经典的一张专辑。在1991年乐队推出一张精选《Decade Of Decadence》，纪念他们十年来的成功。
在此之后，1994年到1998年乐队又推出4张专辑，除1998年的精选外的三张与以往专辑的风格有了不少的改变，不再像以前那样辉煌了，可以说是“坠落十年”了。Motley Crue最值得收藏的专辑是《Too Fast For Love》、《Girls.Girls.Girls》、《Dr. Feelgood》（我认为这是最棒的一张，最后一首“Time For Change”有Skid Row（穷街）做伴唱，可以说是‘绝世佳作’），《Decade Of Decadence》和1998年的那张《Greatest Hits》。
鼓手Tommy于1998年4月离开了乐队，自行发展去了。现由Randy Castillo担任新鼓手。Vince也在个人发展，出了两张专辑《Exposed》和《Carved In Stone》。尽管Motley的辉煌历史已经过去，但是，他们依然是有史以来最性感，最狂躁，最激情，更多的酒精和麻醉毒品，专辑销售超过20百万张的乐队之一。
